ClearBridge Wins WealthManagement.com 2019 Industry Award

WealthManagement.com, a leading resource for wealth advisors and planners, announced the winners for the 2019 Annual WealthManagement.com Industry Awards during a black-tie awards gala at The Ziegfeld Ballroom in Manhattan on September 13, 2019.

Legg Mason affiliate ClearBridge Investments won in the category Asset Managers: Client Experience Initiative. The ClearBridge team was led by Jeff Schulze and Josh Jamner.

ClearBridge was recognized for its Anatomy of a Recession Program, highlighted by the proprietary ClearBridge Recession Risk Dashboard. Because it is important to know the warning signs to help keep clients on track if a recession becomes imminent, the dashboard gauges the likelihood of economic recession occurring in the U.S. over the next six to 18 months.

While not a crystal ball, it assesses 12 individual economic indicators from four key areas: business activity, consumer, financial and inflation. Each indicator can signal expansion (green), caution (yellow) or recession (red) based on the latest readings and analysis of the underlying trends. It has been featured in several financial media outlets in recent months.

The ClearBridge Anatomy of a Recession capital markets education program is designed to equip financial advisors with the tools and resources they need to gauge the likelihood of recession. With easily digestible historical snapshots that compare the current market landscape against past recessions and market conditions, it helps advisors distinguish for their clients the differences between crashes and corrections.

The goal is to help facilitate advisors’ conversations with clients around separating the signal from the noise and staying invested during turbulent times.

In support of the program, the ClearBridge team hosts a quarterly webcast and publishes monthly blog posts to break down the signals behind the economic outlook to a subscriber base of more than 13,000 clients. It also created an interactive digital tool that allows users to adjust the inputs to see how a change in each measured economic indicator affects the likelihood of recession.

The awards were determined by a panel of 14 judges from top industry names. Winners were selected based on quantitative measures of their initiatives – such as scope, scale, adoption and feature set – along with qualitative measures such as innovation, creativity and new methods of delivery.

In its fifth year, the WealthManagement.com Industry Awards is the only awards program to honor outstanding achievements by companies and organizations that support financial advisor success. This year, 72 awards were presented to 61 companies from a pool of 166 finalists.
