Investment Philosophy:
Barrett believes that the best way to achieve premium returns from stocks is to identify fundamentally strong, shareholder-oriented companies with superior, sustainable sales and earnings growth. Additionally, the firm seeks companies that control their destinies through excellent management, high pre-tax margins and excess cash generation. Barrett purchases stocks at an appropriate valuation and continues to hold them for as long as the competitive advantages of the companies persist. Experience shows that earnings increases will lead to share price increases, and that superior earnings increases will lead to superior price appreciation. This approach assumes long security holding periods and leads to only a modest level of turnover and expenses.
Barrett focuses on companies in higher growth industries that are experiencing superior sales and earnings increases. The firm diversifies investments among a number of growing industries to provide portfolios with overall growth characteristics as well as to control risk.
