On Sept. 22, the CDP released the results of its annual survey of global and S&P 500 companies. Legg Mason ranked among the top ten participating financial services firms in the 2008 S&P 500 Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index. Legg Mason received a survey score of 89, compared to the average for the financial services sector of 59.6, in the measurement of carbon emission risks and opportunities, emissions accounting, plans to reduce emissions and corporate governance.
