Compensation in addition to salary may include merit, bonuses and recognition programs.


Your 401(k) account at Legg Mason is designed to be one aspect of your retirement savings plan.

  • Employees can contribute between 1% and 100% pretax and/or Roth (after tax)
  • Various funds offered for investments
  • Match is 100% of the first 3% that you contribute and 50% of the next 3% that you contribute (capped at $10,000)
  • Eligible to enroll at any time

Profit Sharing

The annual profit sharing contribution is determined at the end of the fiscal year. The contribution is discretionary and is based on company profits.

  • Contribution is allocated as a percentage of covered compensation
  • Employees need to have worked the full calendar year and be employed on December 31
  • Part-time employees are eligible (need to work at least 1,000 hours during the year and be employed on December 31)
  • Do not have to be enrolled in 401(k) plan to be eligible


The Employee Stock Purchase Plan offers eligible Legg Mason employees an opportunity to purchase Legg Mason common stock through payroll deductions on an after tax basis.

  • Employees can contribute between 1% and 10% of pay up to $22,700 annually
  • Company will match 15% of your contribution
  • Must work at least 20 hours per week to be eligible
