From an investing perspective, we also understand the relevance of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors to well-run companies and to the long-term health and stability of the markets, We have been working in the ESG space for close to 30 years and our largest equity affiliate, ClearBridge Investments, is an industry leader. Approximately 13% of our total long-term assets under management is in ESG/socially responsible investment strategies.

Legg Mason has an officer led Global Environmental Sustainability Council which leads the Firm’s environmental initiatives in conjunction with our Corporate Citizenship team. The Council’s Executive Sponsor is CFO, Pete Nachtwey.Environmental Volunteerism:
Our signature environmental volunteerism program is the Firm’s participation in an oyster garden program at our headquarters location. The goal of the program is to foster growth of the declining oyster population in the Chesapeake Bay.Best Practices:
