At Legg Mason, we strive to enrich the communities in which we live and work through employee volunteerism and community engagement. We actively encourage our associates to lend their time and talent to organizations across our global communities, and our employees play an active role in helping to make our philanthropic interests and community outreach successful and sustainable.
Legg Mason Volunteer Programs
Days of Caring, a series of community based volunteer opportunities, is our longest running corporate volunteer initiative. Through this program, Legg Mason associates come together on a paid workday to participate in a planned community project with the collective goal of making a difference and improving their community in some small way. This year, our associates volunteered at food banks, senior living facilities and at-risk youth centers.
Our Holiday Outreach initiative occurs annually and includes adopting families for the season as well as participating in food collection drives. This popular charitable activity gives our associates an opportunity to share the joy of the season with those less fortunate.
“Earth Days” coincide with our celebration of Earth Day in the spring and offer employees the opportunity to volunteer with colleagues in ways that clean up, protect, and/or beautify our environment. In 2008, Legg Mason employees volunteered at nature centers, organic farms, parks, and schools in an effort to make our world a greener place to live.
Legg Mason employees also participate in a multitude of Legg Mason sponsored community events throughout the year including Komen Walk for the Cure in all of our main U.S. locations, the JPMorganChase Run/Walk in Central Park, New York, Dragon Boat races in Baltimore and many others.
