Legg Mason Volunteer Programs

Mentoring Programs - Given the firm's charitable focus on education, mentoring has been a longtime cornerstone of our volunteerism platform. Through partners such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, Childcare Learning Centers and Boys Hope Girls Hope, among others, Legg Mason employees support youth in our communities.

Employee Resource Group ( ERG) Community Partnerships - Through our six employee resource groups, Legg Mason associates connect with non profits that align with the respective missions of each group. Some select successful partnerships include Bottom Line, Samuel Ready Scholarships, the American Heart Association, and Boys Hope Girls Hope.

Board Leadership Program - This award winning program connects interested professionals with non-profit board service opportunities. Key components of the program include governance training, board matching, and continual learning forums.

Environmental Volunteerism - Through our annual celebration of Earth Week, we offer multiple community beautification and clean-up volunteerism activities. In addition, our Environmental Sustainability Council sponsors an Oyster Garden initiative which promotes the growth of the declining oyster population in the Chesapeake Bay.

Dragon Boats - Every two years , the Legg Mason dragon boat team competes with other companies in our headquarters location to raise funds for Catholic Charities. In 2014, the Legg Mason team was the top fundraiser with over $57,000 raised.
